Strong roots make beautiful leaves.

 

My life has been devoted to passing memories on to future generations, both as a music educator and a family photographer.

My passion for photography and family history is rooted in the life and influence of my late grandmother.  She was the matriarch of our family, yes, but to me she was always the one with the camera, capturing every special moment she could.  Birthdays, Christmas, family gatherings, any excuse to pull out the camera and shout "smile!" 

 

Only recently after going through tons and tons of her old photos---and I mean old---I realized that she was carrying on the memories of her family before me---my ancestors who I had never met. 

 

It has been such a delight to thumb through photos that captured a time I never knew-people I'd only heard of and never seen in pictures-that captured so many special moments, silly or serious, grainy and unfocused or tack-sharp.  Holding my family's history in my hands, has been an enlightening and humbling experience at the same time.

I have shared those old photos with my husband and two sons, and they now know and understand the care, value and love my grandmother held fast to with her family photos.
